Freaky Friday

Time to get your weekend head on and leave the weeks stress behind. These two tracks will be sure to blow the cobwebs away.

Shlomi Aber - "Freakside" - (Original) - [Ovum]
http://www.zshare.net/audio/248204829d9a4b/

Fred Everything & 20 For 7 - "Friday" - (Trentemoller Remix) - [Lazy Days Recordings]

Losing The Will To Survive

Findlay Brown - "Losing The Will To Survive" - (Beyond The Wizards Sleeve Reanimation) - [Peacefrog]

Im so happy i found this track i was reading up on a new cd mixed by Damian Lazarus http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=8735 where he uses this track to finish on, typical lazarus throw a spanner in the works and mix things up a bit thats why he is rated so highly among many the way he puts a set together is amazing one of the best djs i have ever seen play every track has thought and is put together with so much love & care, this track is sublime listen & love it.

Fire surgery

Surgeon - A1 Untitled [Dynamic tension, 2005]
Mr Surgeon on his own label, throwing a fit and transforming any floor into a burning chaos of frenzy. Heavy goods from the Klonk EP. Can you take it?

Jeff Samuel - Fire (Claude Vonstroke 'like fiyaa' mix) [Poker flat, 2007]
Samuel together with Claude, dirtyness ensues. Bleepy and pushy track that's gonna make you wanna move. Together with this and the original you also get a St Sebastain remix thrown in the package.

So Tight

Lucas Greenberg - "So Tight" - [Plastic City]
Tech house meets old skool piano with a deep house vocal. Yeah! just like that.

Leave The Light On

We have some new music and remixes which has been kindly sent to us. The Cobra dukes a indie band from melbourne, who are now living in london who's sound is mainly indie. We have some great new remixes of there next release aswell as the original "Leave the light on" available on [Prestel] a offshoot label from Mylo's [Breastfed] label already getting big plays from MSTRKRFT, Touche and Mylo himself, Who said the (Fredo & thang remix) is as good as anything he has heard this year & i have to agree its faced paced and bouncy dancefloor material which wouldnt sound out of place in a switch set aswell as a new rave / indie set, the other remix comes from (knightlife) another excellent remix which sounds alot like MSTRKRFT , All in all a nice single with a tasty remix package to choose from be sure to check there myspace for more details www.myspace.com/cobradukes

Suva

Avus - Furry hat [Border community, 2007]
Funny title, but there is nothing funny about this tune. It's all serious business with avus' glistening and hyper tense Border-techno. Sailing quickly upstream in cold water, rainbows all around with the green grass on the shores moist with morning dew. Scott Edwards should be well pleased with this EP. The B side is a real jacking stomper called Spnkr. Hook yourself up!

Love It Or Hate It That Is The Question

Julian Jeweil - "Air Conditionne" - (Original) - [Solid sounds 2007 cdr]

This is a love it or loave it affair people are split down the middle il let you decide, take a listen see what you think.

Have You Ever Woken To Hear Sounds Like These...

Rekorder 9.1 - [Rekorder]

Back doing what they do best hitting us with fine slices of peaktime minimal tech ,Rekorder is a guise three well known djs /producers go under i know Stephan Bodzin is one i think its huntemann & schumacher are the other two dont quote me on that as its late and i have had a bit to drink, whoever they are they make nice late night beats go check out the whole back cat on beatport for more sounds like these

Offshoot

A bit of a non standard post here, but two enjoyable tracks that I quite like.

The Chemical Brothers - The Salmon Dance (feat. Fatlip)
[Virgin, 2007]
Chem bros' with a pure fun track. Lyrics rock and the beats are solid and catchy. All round head-noddin' vibes. On their upcoming (2nd July) album, "We are the night". Fun facts about salmon to boot!

Death Cab For Cutie - All is Full of Love
[Barsuk, 2002]
From their Stability EP. Don't hate ;-)

Caiti

Elektrochemie - "Caiti" - [Get Physical] ( 5 years of )

Theres alot of nice compilations floating around at the min which inclued 5 years of Get Physical, Cocoon comp G & The Famous when dead 5 available on Playhouse i would recommend them all and i haven't even heard all the tracks, Anyway here we have a new Elektrochemie track taken from the 5 years of get physical comp, which i like alot. I always forget who elektrochemie are i think its Bodzin, Schumacher, & a female vocalist so you know what to expect top quality production over a trippy vocal. Make sure to check the rest of the double cd out for more exclusives from Booka Shade , M.A.N.D.Y, Jona and more.

On the horizon

Back to work, another monday. I hope this track will cheer you up.

Beroshima - Horizon [Cocoon, 2007]
Warning, warning - Huge track ahead! Beroshima/Frank Müller, in the game since 1994 can still wreck dancefloors to little specks of dust. Here he brings out the big guns on Cocoon, leaving you barely standing among the debris. Heavy weight and brutal, Horizon smashes everything in its path to bits. Just one teensy pevee though, extend it another few good minutes and I'd be even more up in flames about this. Pig & Dan arranges the flip remix, but I haven't heard it.

Edit: Be sure to visit the superb blog
The ill-ec-tro-nic and pick up the awesome track: M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade Feat Laurie Anderson - O Superman. I simply can't stop listening to it! But I do agree with The Langer that it really should've been made into some 12 min+ monster.

The Green Men in a Midi Shower

The Green Men - "Blink" (Sasse & Nick Chacona Supa Dub) - [Buzzin Fly]

Really enjoy this sound sort of fast paced minimal house with rhythm & groove good for warming up with fits well into a house mix be it minimal or deep,Time to get down & get your groove on !

Dave Dk & Holger Zilske - "Midi Shower" - (Original) - [Playhouse]

Sounds like being caught up in a rain shower on another planet (or at least i think so ) reminds me alot of Shonkys productions, deep and spacey.

Zugunruhe Tides

Ripperton - Zugunruhe -[Connaisseur Grand Cru Cdr]

Beanfield - "Tides" - (Ripperton Remix) - [Compost Records]

Raphael Ripperton is a favorite among bloggers and with these latest tracks you can see why over time he has forged his own sound to make something special, along with the likes of Martin Buttrich, Deetron, and others he makes his own unique sound which uses house, techno, electro a bit of minimal, with plenty of rhythm melody and groove. big things are happening for Ripperton if you ever get the chance to see him i wouldnt hesitate. Here we have a great track "Zugunruhe" lifted from the new Grand Cru compilation on Connaisseur recordings. A good build leading to the funky slow dubby baseline this will instantly have you on the dancefloor. Then as a bonus we have his excellent remix of Beanfield Tides, originaly on white which our friend over at http://birth-school-work-death.blogspot.com/ had a good few months ago exclusively as he does alot of great tracks, Now it has an official release which you can find on beatport, which we have here. The haunting vocals and crisp production turns it into a instant classic.

Ex Machina

Aril Brikha - Kept within [Soundscape/Peacefrog, 2007]
Aril Brikha has his very first full length out. "Ex Machina" is its title, Soundscape (Japan) / Peacefrog the labels. Ex Machina is packed with Aril's signature sound, plenty of chunky melodies with beats packing some punch to match, at times a bit trancy. The styles of the tracks vary from calm, chillout and loungy stuff to more dancefloor variants. 'Kept within' is a typical Brikha joint with lush synthwork and a driving bass.

Orange Leaves

Phonogenic - "Orange Leaves" - (Original) - [Mood Music]

Nice & minimal with a melodic twist, a song to bring in the summer & say goodbye to spring ? lets hope so with all this rain we have been having we need a bit of sunshine back in our lives.

Orient Dongle

Happy Midsummer!

Pan/Tone - Orient Express
[Cereal/killers, 2007]
Cereal/Killers specializing in split twelves, here with big names such as Metope, Ada and Pan/Tone. All delivering their ruffled take on techno. This track has it's fair share of lows and highs, bass kicking in at around 3:40.

Sean Palm - Where's my dongle [Railyard, 2007]
US label owner and artist Sean Palm lets loose some wicked minimal. Quality song that shares that melodic and calmer touch as can be felt in Joel Mull's "Begun the end has" (which was released on the same label, by the way). Mighty things...

Falling Up

Theo Parrish - "Falling Up" - (Carl Craig Remix) - [Third Ear]

As its friday i thought i would post an extra track to celebrate the weekend, and it just so happens to be one of my all time faves (a big statement i know) but when this is played out on a decent sound system ie Funktion 1, it does strange things to the revelers on the dancefloor, i reckon 90% of you will already have it but if it means that last 10 % get to hear it and enjoy it as much as you and me well ive done my job. Presenting - Theo Parrish - Falling up - Carl Craig Remix. *killer*

Doesn't Matter

Sam K - "Doesn't Matter" - (Original) -[Perspectiv]

This is what i would class as proper house music none of this electro house schranz thats doing the rounds. This again is a nice slab of deep house that will ensure you to keep moving your feet and arms at the same time = dancing, theres also a tasty remix from Ripperton on the flip so be sure to look this one up.

I Smile

Tom Ellis - "I Smile" - (Original) - [Trimsound]

To nail a vocal on a minimal / tech track takes something special i think. It can either go two ways. 1 which is sounding cheesey & dated or 2 just not sounding right at all , a spoken word is a different kettle of fish as them sort of tracks work well i think, here we have a great example of a vocal track on top of a minimal beat which has been produced to perfection. Great track from tom ellis I smile :-)

Top Random Circuits 21/06/07

Music im liking this month.

Re - Moved

Guido Schneider - "Re - Moved" - [Poker Flat]

Guido Schneider has got to be one of the most forward thinking producers on the scene all his tracks are next level, i really like his focus on Guido Schneider cd released on poker flat last year i would love to hear him play live. Listen, learn, love.

Different conviction

Differnet - Caring Arms [Friendly noise, 2007] (buy)
Differnet has come to their third album. Behind them they have two cds of excellent forward thinking pop/art-electronica. This third stop sees Differnet with a brighter and clearer vocal front. The change is a welcome one, causing a bit of a shift in sound. Unfortunately it is not always working to 100%. On the whole though, "Collapsing universe" is incredibly solid. The two opening tracks bursts of creativity, sucking you into the universe that Differnet collapses during the 8 songs on the album. Dramatic music that goes straight to the heart and mind. "Patterns of parkland", "Caring arms", "Electricity (Is Not What It Used To Be)" - obvious rewarding songs.

Convextion - Consumer identity [AW-Recordings, 2007] (buy)
Name of the EP is Romantic Interface. This is from the man behind the alias E.R.P. A glimmering, sideways approach differentiates this from the usual techno sound. This track is leftside stuff, ambientish (think SAW) in flavour and the closer of the EP. The Romantic Interface comes with in total four tracks.

Boul De Gum

David K - "Boul De Gum" - [Freak n' Chic]

David K is one of my all time fave producers since i heard dissonance at the begining of 2006 i have been keeping a close eye on him this is a track lifted from his ep on freak n' Chic boul de gum is more a minimal non bass heavy track where as boul de nerf is bass heavy all the way and is big for a lot of djs a secret weapon on the dancefloor!? i certainly think so.

Re - Open For Business!

Anyone have any thoughts on this subject? alot of people think it was the bigger clubs on the island complaining maybe giving back handers here & there ? It was all very suspect if you ask me, lets hope Amnesia & Bora Bora come back soon. In the meantime Let the crazyness continue!

Roots For Acid

Rocco - "Roots For Acid" - [Buzzin Fly]

Its been a while since i posted some deep house, which i happen to have a huge liking to, this is a killer cut released last year on Ben Watts Excellent [Buzzin Fly] label titled "Roots For Acid" made by Rocco. (Aka one half of Rodamaal) Lovely build to this one executed perfectly.

Calea

I try to stay clear of re-posting stuff that I've seen and heard on other blogs that I like, just to separate RC from the masses. But now and then a track or two comes along that just is worthy of more attention....

Boeoes Kaelstigen - Calea
Up and commers swedish producers and friends Tor Rauden Källstigen and Leo Nathorst-Böös creates dance and ear friendly techno under the name Boeoes Kaelstigen. Thanks to
24-hours for hooking us all up with this smash hit! Pounding, driving and jagged. Check their myspace.

Samba

Paul Ritch - "Samba" - [Resopal Schallware]

Let me assure you this is not the kind of samba you will find brazilians dancing to by there favelas, this is a storming tech house track that keeps giving i reckon this will be big in the coming months, it comes from Paul Ritch who you may know from his collaborations with Anthony Collins who brought out a few tracks earlier this year under there guise (Ritch & collins) check out "Fortuna" on [Get Physical] for more sounds like this.

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

The End Has Begun

Joel Mull - Begun The End Has (Original mix) [Railyard, 2007]
Stockholm producer Joel Mull with a piece of melodic minimal techno. Perfect in the beginning or the very end of a set I reckon. Lush as can be. Listen and enjoy this wonderful tune.

With JBH back in the game here at the RC headquarters I can assure you tons of upcoming treats.

All The Time

Dj Koze - "All The Time" - [Philpot]

Dj Koze is known for making strictly trippy german techno, be it his now minimal classic "Brutalga Square" or tracks like dont feed the cat. Here we have his latest which is no different, if anything its more trippy and offside.

Ghost Hardware

Burial - "Ghost hardware" - [Hyperdub]

The south london dark dubstep master Burial is back doing what he does best. Making late night street music, this would sound just as much at home on your ipod on the night bus home as it would in a set from kode 9 or digital mystikz, another killer release from the Anonymous south londen'er known only as Burial.

Soylent Green La Forza Del Destino

Roman Flugel Presents "Soylent Green La Forza Del Destino" - (Original) - [Famous When Dead 5 Playhouse cdr]

Get ready for some strong hypnotic tech bass flugel one half of Alter Ego goes all out in this one & delivers once again, my only quarm is it could of been a few mins longer, but i suppose the radio slave remix on the flip makes up there. All in all a quality piece.

Nimrod

Marc Ashken - "Nimrod" - (Marc Houles A Nimrod Remix) -[Leftroom]

Time to give you your fix of everything bleepy and squeaky for the week with this new, dancefloor friendly track from Marc Ashken taken from his two left feet ep on Uk's Nottingham based label Leftroom Recordings, Enjoy.

Fog

The Green Men - The Fog (Original mix) [Moodmusic, 2007]
Deep house serving from The Green Men. This track is accompanied by two remixes, none of them quite up to snuff like the original mix. Fonkey and easy listening, catchy summer disco. Have a Long Island Ice Tea to this nonstop beach experience.

Southern Comfort

My My - "Southern Comfort" - [Playhouse]

Had a big weekend on the club circuit!? No me neither but if you have this is the perfect way to start the new week sit back relax and unwind to the acoustic guitar sounds of My My. Maybe they were chilling drinking southern comfort when they came up with this piece of beauty who knows.

Praise

Art Of Tones - "Praise" - (Llorca remix) - [20:20 Vision]

After hearing this back a few months ago i new it was destined for ibiza, and was wasted at the back end of the winter. This has a summer vibe written all over it, releasing endorphines rushing to your brain thus putting a smile on your face and everyone around you.

Twisted

GummiHz -"Twisted" - (Original) - [Mobilee Recordings]

Something for you late night insomniacs this will be sure to twist your mind coming from GummiHz taken from his (bar loca ep) on Mobilee this is a moody minimal piece, i like halfway through when it suddenly sounds like a minature steam engine comes in and starts to blow off steam on top of what sounds like faint laughing this is one for the after hours brigade.

Be twelve

Finally the weekend is here! Time to party and have fun. Stay healthy!

B12 - Slope
[B12, 2007]
New Ep from veteran B12. Slope, the title track, is bouncy and quirky dance material. Climbing up and up.

Yesterday I saw Medvind vs Åbäke play live. They were really good, mixing electro and post-rock into a beautiful soup. Sometimes dabbling in hiphop beats with plenty of samples. Worked out brilliant.

Gamma

Trentemoller & Buda -"Gamma" -(Minilogue Remix) -[Kickin Records]

Are we all strapped in and ready for a journey into the deep unknown!? Trentemoller & Buda present the beats with Minilogue adding the finishing touches just under 11 mins this will take you to another world.

Nice & minimal with a good build up, a late night heads down track thats sure to have you shuffling your feet.

Sudoko Kid

Ito & Star - "Sudoko Kid" - (Original) - [Leftroom Recordings]

One of those tracks where you have to ask the dj what it is and do a bit of trainspotting nice track doing big things on the dancefloor.

Improve by laser

Right, let's get back to the regular programme. Tonight our special course is electro.

Silicon Scally - Population III
[Satamile, 2007] (buy)
February album of Scally. Robotnik mechano soundtrack for the mad scientists, this doesn't sound like anything I've heard before. Power up your jetpack, ready your plasma rifle and brace yourself to dive into the body jacking world that is Bioroid. Plentyful of rude sounds for your guts and brain. Carl Finlow has been a musician dear to me ever since Electrocide. I know I'm a couple of months behind on this one, but for those of you who, like me, have missed this - check, check (and buy, buy of course).

Sneak Thief - Robinsons funk [Klakson, 2007] (buy)
Smooth stuff.. making your head nod. Catchy, making your legs and feet get disco fever and funk spasms. From the "G-string orchestra" EP.

Exo Fraggle

Time to step out of the minimal/house/techno/electro box and into the dark experimental sphere.

Terminal Sound System - Ghost summer [Extreme, 2007]
Terminal Sound System's latest album "Compressor" sounds like a less complex, more straight forward version of Squarepusher's "Ultra visitor". From the gnarly opener, 'Gridlock' to the harsh and high contrast '722' - this is neo-dubstep-idm! The last track 'Decompensating' could be described as Autechre meeting Vex'd.

Von Südenfed - Flooded [Domino, 2007]
Vocalist from The Falls + Mouse on Mars = ? Madness perhaps, hehe. A full lenghter with everything from more or less straight forward rock songs ('The rhinohead'), to chaotic and messy soundwalls. Then we have this thing, 'Flooded', which is like LCD soundsystem but not as indifferent.

Last Step - Your Carrot Soup [Planet Mu, 2007]
First album from Aaron Funk under his Last Step guise. Analogue acid constructions, up tempo and occasionally some sugary little melodies. Accompanied with smashing drum patterns, Last Step does heavy damage. I Approve of this self titled album! "Breakers know", "Lives with angels" and "Color TV" are also 5-star songs.

Monday flora & fauna

Late again! With good reason this time. Directly after work I had to go to a summer course introduction. I'm going to learn how to classify and identify animal and plants - fun stuff, haha.

Giorgos Gatzigristos - New world order
[K2, 2007]

Young Europa

Sorry for a bit of a late sunday post. Been chilling out in the sun at the coast. Even having a swim in the sea (cold).

Nukubus - Europa (Aux 88 detroit remix)
[SD, 2007] (buy)
Excellent remix by my Aux 88 heroes. Snappy track that doesn't lose focus. Here's a long, nice snippet for ya to preview.

The Youngsters - The Third Knife [20:20 Vision, 2007]
Slow moving tech-house from this sparkling duo. Impressive work on one of the most respected house imprints of the UK.

Catch bullets with your teeth

Murs & Slug - The two [Access hip hop / Rhymesayers, 2002]
Two gigantic emcees collaborates. The album "Felt" is, as could be expected, a heavy hitter. My favorite track from that release is this one by far. Pretty obstinate rhythm for a hiphop track, but works really well with Slug's and Murs' rhyming. Thought it was time for a bit of hiphop again.

Miskate -
Afterblaster [Microcosm, 2007]
From Pittsburgh but now a Philly resident, Kate Iwanowicz makes girly house. Haha, no, I'm just kidding. It's damn hot and solid minimal techno, with a deep touch. "Afterblaster", the title track, kicks of the release with an answering machine recording of some dude. Of course it's tweaked and processed and as the beat bites and claws along, the result forms...as a surreal and druggy experience. Waking up at 11 in the morning in some big city, still feeling very weird, it's hot outside. Your memory all blurred. Did you have the oddest dream or was that fragments from last night?

Romantic jam

DJ T - Jam Pot [Get physical, 2007]
Get physical boss Dj T, here with the B side of "The Dawn". Not extremely exciting, but a decent track that surely will appeal to many with its playful structure and T blessed sound.

Mr 76ix - Romanticism [Skam, 2007]
Legendary, avant electronic music specialist, label Skam - one of the finest (and oldest?) in the field. Sir 76ix goes all haywire on us with his album "3 (minority of 1)". From dark and dirty, all the way to this track and "games people play" that are reminiscent of late nineties IDM a la toytronic. Don't misunderstand me, it's pretty fresh sounding.

Building plateaus 2

Patrick Chardronnet - Eve by day (Fairmont mix) [Connaisseur, 2005]
Eve by day shook me when I first heard it. And it was posted here on the blog, in RC's early days. Not long after the original was out, the remix twelve showed up with Ripperton and Fairmont representing. Good times.

Secede - Vega Libre: The Citadel [Sending Orbs, 2007]
Secede masters different styles without breaking a sweat. I've always had a soft spot for his beat filled, uptempo works though. Vega Libre offers me this plus some of his ambient, misty creations. The Citadel is crunchy drums covered in layers of recordings, blips and twisting melodies.

  • Andreas Tilliander - Bonnarock
  • Secede - Vega Libre EP
  • Zoo Brazil - Save [Pickadoll, 2007]
The zoo brazil track Save is the B from the "Dubai nights" release. The duo conjures images of blurry city lights in the night with Save. It has a thumping bassline and later on some sweet synth riffs splashing about, adding some much wanted variety and depth. Has hit potential.

Fairmont - Hotel Deauville [Playmade, 2006]
Fairmont is for those not in the know: Jacob - Jake - Fairley. Techno producer out of Toronto, Canada. Fairmont is his output ID for less dancefloor oriented stuff. This is from his adorable EP with the same name. Recently he had a track on BPitch's "Compilation camping vol 3" called Pavilion which instantly melted my heart, so check that one out too.

Dave Fischoff - Last room
[Secretly Canadian, 2006]
Indietronica in every sense of the word. Here is but one of the many moving sounds off of one man show Fischoff's second album "The Crawl". Symphonic pop clashes with rough beats (borderline hippetyhoppy sometimes) and electronic twiddlings. Rather intricate constructed pieces not too far away from Mr Patrick Wolf.
