H.O.S.H. 'White Elephant' - [Kindisch]

Lets go deep now on RC.

This latest one from H.O.S.H. is just that, Deep exciting house music I'm a sucker for anything with trumpets or horns, in fact anything relating to the brass family.

When i first heard this i was slightly taken a back as i wasn't expecting this at all its nothing like his release on Diynamic Music. Which was good dont get me wrong, but this is next level he uses a deep throbbing bassline, Horns & trumpets which jump out at you a bit like
Sebbo's Beirut boogie.

Classical meets deep house music & once again the outcome is fantastic. He uses the horns and trumpets really well wrapping them tightly round the deep house beat to give that feel as if the elephant was raising its trunk in a sort of "Im here to stay" fashion, as it marches along. It keeps at a nice steady pace adding deep keys and continuing with the impending sounds of the horns and trumpets. Its the sort of track that wouldn't be out of place on a film or on classical FM.

On the flip is H.O.S.H. With Adriano (3) -'Don Alfredo'

This track's a total different ball game.It has alot of layer's which keep repeating themself. There's alot going on in this track but it works as its slow and stripped back, the drowsy horns and trumpets keep coming in making a slight appearance then disappearing again in keeping with the riff from the piano & just before the whirling of the vortex, then it starts all over again. Its by no means peak time but its a fantastic release.

Overall view on this fabulous double sider is what house music should be about. Exciting fresh and forward thinking.

Basteroid - 16 steps away from the stars [Areal, 2007] (d/l)

Off of Basteroid's first full length album "Upsets ducks". I've liked Basteroid ever since I first heard him, always quirky but with rugged and hard sides to his music. Interesting shit that oftentimes will set you in the right groove mode. Upsets Ducks is a great collection of songs and showcases the basteroid style in full force. Don't miss on this.

Alcoolic

Popof -'Alcoolic' -(Paul Woolford aa Remix) - [CDR]

There's no getting away from it this has been a sure fire underground summer hit.

Luciano has been caning it along with a whole heap of DC1O Residents. So it was only a matter of time before a big label C2 Records (UK) picked it up and hooked us up with a decent remix package.

This remix package is like a who's who of producers to watch, on the Cdr you get the brilliant Original then there's a remix from head honcho at Nottinghams Leftroom label Matt Tolfrey who has teamed up with uber minimalist Inxec. There take on things is a total rework adding a sort of minimal tribal vibe to it that will appeal to the masses, its a builder which explodes with tribal shouting and the original riff it comes in at just under 9 mins which is very DJ friendly.

Last but certainly not least is Basics resident Paul Woolford who basically beefs it up for more of a club vibe it starts off as if your in a frying pan thats about to explode sizzling its arse off then eventually it does explode bringing the all important riff slamming in. Its more Acid house than minimal,which appeals to me the most my only quarm is it could of been a tad longer.

Minimal Schminimal

I have a sort of love hate relationship with the dreaded genre. Ive never really been into the cold clicky side of it, However i do prefer music that's been stripped down so you can hear all the elements all going off and intertwining with one another.

Perhaps that's why i hate trance? It all sounds the same and is just too boring i was never into the whole progressive era as well that never took my fancy.

I was more on an old skool tip lots of piano's hence my love for a piano tune to this day.

Alot of minimal can fall flat on its face but this next one is totally the opposite its deep it has melody & structure, & it has a dark tint to it in a sort of light way its by a Polish producer Slg and its on one of our favorite labels here at RC Trapez.

Earthworm Is everything minimal should be about its fast paced deep, bleepy & trippy and has been laced in acid funk its not a one off either as the flip 'Ssswing' is just as good if not better, & both have a distinct likeness to Stimming's Funkworm EP.

This is what it should be about.

Four minimal heads doing it for me right now are Adultnapper, Jon Gaiser, Heartthrob and of course Slg.

My partner in crime points out minimal smashed everything out of its way on our pole in a landslide victory, With this being the case hopefully we will be able to bring you some different fresh sounding minimal music to RC. Anyway enough with the 'M word how many times did i use it ....

Pornbugs - Hot pan [Bondage, 2007] (d/l)

Pornbugs is aka I.D.O.G & Crypton which doesn't tell me much. What I do know is that they have released a violent collection of four tracks called "Cook it" on Bondage music. All 4 songs are massive. This is ear candy of galactic proportions. Big, bleepy music for big nights. Need fat speakers and monster system, so I can listen to this properly already!

Slave To The Vibe

Slam -'Azure' -(radioslave remix) -[N/A]

The master of the remix is once again gracing our blog. He really mustn't get much sleep hence the "no sleep" project. Bringing out remix after remix running a label REKIDS and finding time to go on tour! But somehow he manages to find the time.

Not only does he find time to do all this, but he finds the time to make consistently excellent records and remixes as he goes, never failing or disappointing. His latest is a remix from Scottish duo Slam who are also co founders of the ever excellent Soma Quality Recordings.

Mr Edwards has taken the smash hit from earlier this year Azure and stripped it right down using the bare minimal. Basically its a driving tambourine and the most luscious string arrangement your going to hear this year, Whilst all this is making your ear buds dance about with delight, there's a sort of calm but eerie whistling in the background adding that extra bit of sparkle.

Its really good maybe suited more for the big room floors? Only time will tell, one thing is for certain you will be hearing this alot more in the coming months.

On the flip is a Samuel L Sessions remix which is a little shorter than the one mentioned above.Which is to be expected as Matt doesn't usually do a remix less than 10 Min's long!

SLS keeps alot more of the original and alot more of the piano, its a bit more Techno / Electro than stripped down and minimal.

Its a great remix package its out in December on Soma Quality Recordings so go out and buy it! Essential!

Dole & Kom - Remind me [Death by disco, 2007] (d/l)

Top duo Tilo Ciesla & Jens Brachvogel is back on their own personal label - Death By Disco - with four tracks signed with the official D&K stamp. We're talking melodic, moving, dancefloor as well as ipod friendly tech house of course. It's so nice with artists that you can truly trust for quality and gorgeous output each and every single time.

With only 3 days left on the poll, I am hearing the crowd. And the crowd wants minimal techno! What a landslide, expected of course, but still.

Emissions

Dubfire - Emissions [M_NUS, 2007] (d/l)

M_NUS is at it again, new compilation "Expansion | Contraction" got me all giddy. Especially with this, the first track, which comes from the Dubfire man. It's hard hitting, super dense minimal bullets fired at you from point blank range. "Pressure | Release" would describe Emissions in Minus words. Well, Dubfire is indeed on fire. The other contributions on the comp comes from Hawtin himself under the Plastikman guise, Marc Houle, Gaiser, JPLS and Heartthrob.

Markus Enochson - Red coffee (redshape sweat mix) [Imprimé, 2007] (d/l)

A heavy kick coupled with some claps.. a simple introduction for this power-track. It keeps on building and eventually reaches a stomping equilibrium that just feels so good. Some synths enter the picture around the middle and it is awesome. Alex Kid's new label Imprimé is off to a very good start!

Shinedoe - 'Enjoy The Moments' (RippertonRmx) - [100% Pure]

Starting off with a creepy insect noise as if its walking over a piece of paper and the sound has been amplified 100x. In comes the bass its a thumping drum that's consistent, at least until when the strings come in then it fades into the background as the track starts to come together. Hand claps and a lovely melody slowly glide in as it opens up like a butterfly in the summer, back in comes the drum and makes way for what sounds like a steam engine about to leave the station. The riff boomerangs back and forth giving a sort of elastic springy effect, eventually it starts springing uncontrollably in a coiling sort of fashion, only calming down to a slow finish as the track has come to the end. Once again Ripperton shows us why he is at the top of the tree don't let this one pass you by as its a limited edition on white.

Sickening

TRAGEDY @ CARL COX gig Red Noise, Venezuela !
Four people were shot dead at a Carl Cox concert on Saturday in Venezuela after a gunman starting shooting in the crowd.
There are reports on the web that nine people were also injured, and grisly footage of the aftermath was posted on YouTube by the VJ who was playing at the gig at La Rinconada Terrace in Caracas, Venezuela.
On a VJ Forum, VJ Rei from Venezuela described the attack and said he saw three dead bodies on the dancefloor:
“Last night, 15 meters from me when Carl Cox started his show and 10 minutes into it someone started to shoot everyone. It sounded like firecrackers, it was so fast I didn’t think it was a gun.
“Everybody started to run like crazy.
“I was in the main booth, doing my visuals and filming the show.
I just grabbed the camera and started to film everything that was going on.
”The film has now been removed from YouTube.
Carl Cox was headlining the event called Red Noise, and on Monday this statement was posted on his website Carlcox.com
“I am deeply shocked and still stunned by the events of this Saturday [3rd November]
“My condolences go out to victims that were caught up in this horrific act that took place at this gig.“
I am informed that it was gang related and feel so sad that anybody would act in such a manner when the event was full of 7000 people having fun!
“I will try my best to continue on the tour across South America however deeply shocked and shaken I am.”

"Our condolences go out to the people that fell victim to this hideous act.Its deeply shocking to hear about this kind of thing going on with all those innocent people there such a tragic end lets hope this kind of thing never happens again and people can still party and have fun without living in fear of something so catastrophic happening again our condolences go out to the people and there family's. RC"

Kaliber - Kaliber 14 - 'A1' [Kaliber]

The http://www.discogs.com/label/Kaliber series can be a bit hit and miss the A sides are usually on the money but the 'B & C' sides don't really have much to give, its as if they were hastily made with not alot of care or thought, basically there quite bland. Kaliber - Kaliber 14 is no different the 'A' side is a real quality cut its hard to describe it. It takes minimal and melody and joins them together perfectly, adding an infectious flute riff which is really very catchy indeed. In comes some harsh chugging bass and loopy melodies. Its probably one of the best in the Kaliber series, definitely one of my favourites. John Dahlbäck doing what he does best.

Hustler

Simian Mobile Disco 'Hustler' - (ShackletonRemix) - [CDR]

There's a really good remix package coming soon of the latest Simian Mobile Disco track 'Hustler' which includes remixes from Armand Van Helden who gives it a full on club remake then there's a remix from Jesse Rose who adds his special fidget fingers to the mix.Grime crew Roll Deep also have a mix on this CDR.Last but not least is Shackleton who draws the mix out for a good 8 Min's its full of spaced out rhythm's and drowsy vocals its a long way off any of his previous more darker Dubstep work, its more minimal and floaty than dark and devastating easily the best on the CDR. The remix package will be available on Nov 26th definitely one to look out for.
