Map to loving dominik

Dominik Eulberg - Rattenscharf [Cocoon, 2007] (d/l)
Herr Eulberg with a fresh long player filled with mostly new tracks, finally more biology/park-ranger techno! 'Bionik' is oftentimes a bit quirky, quickly followed by the most serene and beautiful melodic sequences. Awkward drum patterns with sprinkled glitchesque sound effects in a contrived and confined space gets lifted up by the celestial, organic tones coming from the nearest plants. Rewarding to listen to. And while I've now heard the album back to back for 10+ times, I am still not certain about my verdict on this one. Tricksy, Eulberg, tricksy.

Maps - To The Sky (The Loving Hand Remix) [Mute, 2007] (d/l)
Remix treatment from the oh so loving hand. The outcome is, naturally, like tiny crazy delicious cookies for your ears. Buy the cookie, listen to the cookie and then finally become the cookie.

By the way, check out Donnacha Costello - Orange A, posted up on Music for robots. Nice one.

Minimal Monday

Tom Dazing -'She Must Come Soon' -[Heimatmelodie]

Some minimal to start the week off.

'She must come soon' is a track that's been getting a steady amount of interest over the summer by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Magda & Troy Pierce. It started off as an unsigned track but now its been released on Heimatmelodie.
Tom Dazing builds the track using bleepy riffs, cool percussion, driving sub bass and a good build.
Worth checking out.

Spastik

A quick Sunday lunch post to relive the boredom of waiting for my dinner.
How good is this for a reworking basically Dubfire just gives the classic a new lick of paint by bringing it up to date, not alot to say on this one apart from its essential. On the flip is another excellent rework of 'Panikattack' by Guido Schneider under a (Second Attack Remix) guise.
Plastikman - Nostalgik.3 is another great reworking package go look up the other two in the series.

Olga Dancekowski

Matt John - 'Olga Dancekowski' (Audion's Paradise Cafe Mix) -[BAR25]

Matt John is one of the most unique producers around take his releases on Perlon even in 2005 before "minimal" was cool he was knocking out a soundtrack of next level bleepy sounds.

So those of you who know his sound will be pleased that this is just as unique and mind bending, well the remix is. Its by one of my favourite producers ever Audion I think in a clash it would be between him and Radioslave. Anyway its Audion who does the business on this 'Olga Dancekowski' Expect peak time twisted deep techno a real psychedelic journey through everything bleepy and wrong.
Exceptional remix from Audion who has been very busy of late under his Matthew Dear guise bringing us the psychedelic sounds of his album Asa Breed.

Then under his Audion guise remixing everyone from Blackstrobe to Claude VonStroke.

His latest is a remix of the new
Dubfire 'I feel speed' which is floating around at the moment and i must say its really really good.
I'm already looking forward to his next releases / remixes Audion a force to be reckoned with.
Check out his entire back catalogue i cant find a blotch in this landscape of music! Listen to Dubfire - 'I feel speed' - (Audion remix)

Boosterland

Friday extravaganza post Just For You[tm]!

Luca Agnelli - Booster remix [My best friend, 2007] (d/l)
Harmonic wind pipes stabs at you while building what is yet to come. You dash towards the warm, devious bass only to find out about its severe treason. A knife in the back! Better start running. Adventurous minimal techno served by Mr Agnelli on My Best Friend. Original floor-busting steez you can't stop, even if you wanted to. It is all compassing, engulfing every last bit of matter.

Justus Köhncke - Feuerland [Kompakt, 2007] (d/l)
Interesting fact about this track, copy&pasted straight from discogs: '"Feuerland" is written by Harmonia- and Neu!- and former Kraftwerk-member Michael Rother and originally released on his 1977 LP "Flammende Herzen".' A real epic moody piece this one. Play while traveling, waiting, working or studying and listen in awe as the track unfolds itself.

Weekend digest for GBG: We got Rub N Tug + DJ KAOS crashing the boat Styrbord Babord friday night. On saturday club Atlantis@Röda Sten offers techno, electro, acid and minimal from Schuldts. At the same time Dimitrios & Jor-el continues with their Kraft crusade at Storan. Hit up Min bror och jag for your electro dosage with Midnight express djs Eargoggle & Technicolor.

Barren space

Ada - Barren space [Areal, 2007] (d/l)
B-side of the Fizzman release. Areal being busy. Opinions?

Tons and tons of school work, crazy as hell at my job = a plethora of things I have to  prioritise over RC sadly.

Back Track Tuesday

Tim Wright -'Thirst' (Luciano's Dancehall Remix) -[NovaMute]

Its that time again where we open the vaults here at RC to look back on some forgotten classics or lesser known tracks that you may have missed.
This week were focusing on Cadenza's head honcho and DJ extraordinaire Luciano.
Starting off with a track by Tim Wright titled 'Thirst' (Luciano Dancehall Remix) i know what you must all be thinking. "Dancehall" ??? have we gone mad! But fear not as this isn't your regular dancehall track you wont find any Rastafarian's grinding to this in your local dancehall. This is a deep trippy minimal meets house, slow vocal groover. That still sounds as fresh as it did back in 2004. Luciano's remix and Juice Aleem's vocals work really well together.

Vegetable Orchestra - 'Ciboulette' (Luciano Mix) -[Karmarouge]
Next is a somewhat of a sort after minimal classic everyone from Richie Hawtin to Carl Craig has championed this. Its by the Vegetable Orchestra - 'Ciboulette' (Luciano Remix) What makes this so special is the Orchestra consists of ten musicians, one cook and one sound technician. They use musical instruments made out of vegetables! Some are ready made, like the tomato. Some are altered and assembled especially, like their infamous carrot recorder. It sounds mad i know but how far above there time where they! This is a record every Electronic music fan should own.

Acidland

Massi DL -'Acidland' - [N/A]

Time for some more skewed minimal from the Italian who's the front man at the moment on all things wrong and wonky Massi DL.
Taken from his upcoming ep Massi DL - Wonderland which will be dropping in mid December on Trapez.Yes thats right once again the German minimal label doesn't fail to deliver.

Acidland is like diving into a scene from who framed Roger Rabbit you get the feeling that these strange sounds could of been lifted straight of a cartoon. Wonky horns and bubbling sounds try to warp the brain, incomes the Acid build that springs into action making everything explode and go crazy.
Wonderfull and wonky.

Luna

Luna is like a trip on to a dance floor that has no gravity you instantly float away into the track.

Its built full of lush melodies that leave you in a state of trance, dreamy and so pleasing on the ear.So sit back and get lost in the moment.
Luna being the Latin meaning for Moon, and you totally get the feeling that you could be on the moon.
Ellen Allien's BPitch Control with yet another remarkable release

Is it real or is it just a dream .......

Fancy you

The results are in, the poll is closed. An even 200202 people voted, very impressive! Thanks for letting us know your opinion.

Avus - Fancy Arse (James Holdens Sunday Night Extension) [Perc trax, 2007] (d/l)
Just a (not so) lil something I have missed. Lovely split from waaay back in april (gasp!) with some recognizable names. Here Avus and James Holden, on the flip Perc meets Nathan Fake... And there was a FIRE FIGHT!

Sennh - I am with you [Traum, 2007] (d/l)
Perfectly balanced, melodic rhythms. Like trainride imagery, flickering past your retina while you're drifting away, day dreaming of things that could have been. Sennh makes his/her(?) debut on Traum and it fits right in with the rest of the family. "I am with you" has a mature sound and is a full fledged techno-bird ready to take off any second, always on the move. Catch it while you can ;-)

I'm off for the weekend once again. Hit those clubs people!

White Elephant

Lets go deep now on RC.
This latest one from H.O.S.H. is just that, Deep exciting house music I'm a sucker for anything with trumpets or horns, in fact anything relating to the brass family.
When i first heard this i was slightly taken a back as i wasn't expecting this at all its nothing like his release on Diynamic Music. Which was good dont get me wrong, but this is next level he uses a deep throbbing bassline, Horns & trumpets which jump out at you a bit like
Sebbo's Beirut boogie.
Classical meets deep house music & once again the outcome is fantastic. He uses the horns and trumpets really well wrapping them tightly round the deep house beat to give that feel as if the elephant was raising its trunk in a sort of "Im here to stay" fashion, as it marches along. It keeps at a nice steady pace adding deep keys and continuing with the impending sounds of the horns and trumpets. Its the sort of track that wouldn't be out of place on a film or on classical FM.
On the flip is H.O.S.H. With Adriano (3) -'Don Alfredo'
This track's a total different ball game.It has alot of layer's which keep repeating themself. There's alot going on in this track but it works as its slow and stripped back, the drowsy horns and trumpets keep coming in making a slight appearance then disappearing again in keeping with the riff from the piano & just before the whirling of the vortex, then it starts all over again. Its by no means peak time but its a fantastic release.
Overall view on this fabulous double sider is what house music should be about. Exciting fresh and forward thinking.

*The track is White elephant i just mixed up the titles when uploading it*

Borattoid

Basteroid - 16 steps away from the stars [Areal, 2007] (d/l)

Off of Basteroid's first full length album "Upsets ducks". I've liked Basteroid ever since I first heard him, always quirky but with rugged and hard sides to his music. Interesting shit that oftentimes will set you in the right groove mode. Upsets Ducks is a great collection of songs and showcases the basteroid style in full force. Don't miss on this.

Gui Boratto - Matryoshka [Kompakt Extra, 2007] (d/l)
Speicher55: Gui Boratto / SCSI-9. I like. A lot. No further comments.

Alcoolic

Popof -'Alcoolic' -(Paul Woolford aa Remix) - [CDR]

There's no getting away from it this has been a sure fire underground summer hit.

Luciano has been caning it along with a whole heap of DC1O Residents. So it was only a matter of time before a big label C2 Records (UK) picked it up and hooked us up with a decent remix package.

This remix package is like a who's who of producers to watch, on the Cdr you get the brilliant Original then there's a remix from head honcho at Nottinghams Leftroom label Matt Tolfrey who has teamed up with uber minimalist Inxec. There take on things is a total rework adding a sort of minimal tribal vibe to it that will appeal to the masses, its a builder which explodes with tribal shouting and the original riff it comes in at just under 9 mins which is very DJ friendly.

Last but certainly not least is Basics resident Paul Woolford who basically beefs it up for more of a club vibe it starts off as if your in a frying pan thats about to explode sizzling its arse off then eventually it does explode bringing the all important riff slamming in. Its more Acid house than minimal, which appeals to me the most my only quarm is it could of been a tad longer.

Minimal Schminimal

I have a sort of love hate relationship with the dreaded genre. Ive never really been into the cold clicky side of it, However i do prefer music that's been stripped down so you can hear all the elements all going off and intertwining with one another.

Perhaps that's why i hate trance? It all sounds the same and is just too boring i was never into the whole progressive era as well that never took my fancy.

I was more on an old skool tip lots of piano's hence my love for a piano tune to this day.

Alot of minimal can fall flat on its face but this next one is totally the opposite its deep it has melody & structure, & it has a dark tint to it in a sort of light way its by a Polish producer Slg and its on one of our favorite labels here at RC Trapez.

Earthworm Is everything minimal should be about its fast paced deep, bleepy & trippy and has been laced in acid funk its not a one off either as the flip 'Ssswing' is just as good if not better, & both have a distinct likeness to Stimming's Funkworm EP.

This is what it should be about.

Four minimal heads doing it for me right now are Adultnapper, Jon Gaiser, Heartthrob and of course Slg.

My partner in crime points out minimal smashed everything out of its way on our pole in a landslide victory, With this being the case hopefully we will be able to bring you some different fresh sounding minimal music to RC. Anyway enough with the 'M word how many times did i use it ....
