We Dont Want No Fuss Or No Fight

Dubstep has only been around for a short while, but in that amount of time its caused a massive stir in the underground scene, nothing quite sounds like it it cant really be Tagged to one specific genre, it uses elements of Techno, Garage, D&B & Grime, which forms a sound like nothing ever heard before there are no rules in dubstep,or should i say no formulas,If you were to ask anyone who is into the sound what there top 3 Dubstep records were, 9 out of ten times i reckon this would come up along with Skreams Midnight Request line. This is definatly a dubstep anthem & i reckon people will look back on this record as a "Classic".

Storm in time

Wow, the acid post was ridiculously popular. I'm guessing this won't come close, hehe. Anyways I realized I have been sleeping on hiphop for a while. So i browsed around for what's new and exciting or any other quality tunes I've missed out on. Here's what I found.

Cut chemist feat. Edan & Mr Lif - Storm
[Warner bros, 2006]
Bionic shit! This is good hiphop, the kind of stuff I appreciate. A bit non-standard, but not too out there either. Had high expectations on this track since it's three names I quite dig, no disappointment.

Evidence - A moment in time (feat. Planet Asia)
[ABB, 2007]
Very classic sound to this song, not really ground breaking in any aspect. But it's solid all around, can't help but nod my head to this.

Listened to RJD2's latest output (The third hand) as well, and he still is a top producer, but the vocals..hmm? Took a while to get used to, to be honest. An ok album though.

Anyone out there that want to tip me off about great, 2005-2007 hiphop tracks that I might have missed? Please, I'm so behind on the genre right now it's silly.

Edit: Oh it's my birthday today! Yay :|

We continue

Carrying on from skyphers excellent Acid posts below. Heres another classic this time from another of Richie Hawtins alter ego's, plastikman & The timeless "spastik"

Plastikman - "Spastik" - [Novamute -1993]

http://www.zshare.net/audio/01_spastik-mp3.html

Then to finish in style one of my favourites from Richie Hawtin full on techno here with the wonderfull - "Minus Orange"

Richie Hawtin - "Minus Orange" - [M_nus 1998]

http://www.zshare.net/audio/minusorange-mp3-plastikman-mp3.html

Corrode

As I've mentioned i'm heavily hooked on the acid (again) ... so here's some classics.

Pergon - The Deliverer
[Important, 1993]
1993 is the year, ecstatic is the mood. From Pargon's first release '#1'.

F.U.S.E. - Substance Abuse [Plus 8, 1991]
Hawtin on it again, this time "way back" in 91. Freaky acid techno.

Jack it, house it

Hell - Jack Your Body [Resist music, 2006]
Produced by Anthony Rother and Dj Hell. On the compilation "Time Out Presents The Other Side: Paris" from 2006.

Felix Da Housecat feat. P. Diddy - Jack vs I'll House You (Dj Hell rmx)
[International deejay gigoglo, 2006]
The version featured on the Housecat mixtape is driving and rough, but way too short. Here Dj Hell sweetens it up and extends it to almost 8 minutes of love. From the International Deejay Gigolos CD Nine.

Just saw Roman Polanski's
Repulsion from 1965... wow. Extremely good movie.

My next post will contain some classic acid.

The Dirty Disco

So this Sunday is the 2nd birthday of the North of Englands premier club night the Dirty disco ,unfortunatly it wont be held at its spiritual home which is the Northern light ,a club with 3 different rooms a main room a side room and a very dark basement ,it wont be held here because the police decided to raid it & found nothing apart from a few (e,s) when they should of been concentrating on all the beer boys who go out looking for a fight not 2000 sweaty clubbers all going to the same place for the same thing that being the music ,anyway it will be held in mission a club thats recently had a 1 million pound face lift so im happy.Have a good weekend everybody & remember party hard but dont forget to go home!
John dahlback -"Ooh Oh l E" - (Sebo k Remix) - [Systematic]

Grimey Princess

Joker -"Grimey Princess" -[Earwax 2007]

Who fancies a game of "name the hottest new instrumental grime producer?" Here's the first clue: "He's making next level instrumental grime, evoking memories of Detroit's future." Sound like Plastician? It does but you're wrong. How about: "He's a prestigious talent, who stays in to make vast number of beats, began writing on Fruity Loops when he was 14 before graduating to Logic." Sounds like Skream? It does…but it isn't. What about: "As a teenager he watched UK garage implode, seized his moment to combine synths with mental computer game FX to create his own sound." Remind you of a young Dizzee Rascal? It does, but you've still got the wrong guy.

Instead, meet 18-year-old Joker from Easton, Bristol, UK. With a release on dubstep's DJ Pinch's Earwax and another forthcoming on grime's Plastican's Terrorhythm, Joker's making waves in 2007 with a unique sound of his own.

Walls

Shitkatapult co-founder Sascha Ring aka Apparat has a new album in the pipeline - "Walls", due in may.

Quite a few of the tracks feature vocals which mostly fall flat to my ears. Some parts are quite bland, but there are a few standout songs as well: Limelight, Fractales pt1, Arcadia and You don't know me. But we've heard it all before. Perhaps Apparat needs a bit of Ellen Allien to reach full potential?

Apparat - Fractales Pt.1
[Shitkatapult, 2007] (buy)

No, what's really keeping me busy at the moment is oldish acid house. And some classic detroit techno. With a bit of Merck sprinkled on top.

Listen To Your Wet Heart

Adultnapper vs Dan Berkson - "Inner Ear" -(Original mix) -[Intrinsic Design US 2007]

Fresh twist on the minimal sound, adding moody piano riffs, skewed vocal snippets and completely original psychedelic soundscapes. Remix is provided courtesy of Pier Bucci.

The Dream

Dntel -(This Is) The Dream Of Evan & Chan -"Superpitcher Kompakt Remix" - [Plug Research]

Hey!

Michel De Hey, Dutch Techno legend & all round nice guy, partly responsible for bringing Techno to the good people of the Netherlands,Loco Dice see's him as one of his main influences.Heres a nice track released on his own label [Hey! Records]

Michel De Hey - "Catfight" -[Hey! Records]

Voigt Ripper

A couple of new bits and pieces of music to dance and groove to. This time from the neverending golden stream of records coming out of Kompakt and the smaller Liebe Detail.

Ripperton - 10a
[Liebe detail, 2007] (buy)
January release but still pumping in my speakers and brain. Ripperton and Behrenroth splits a 12" and both sides are solid minimalism. Ripperton = Hot. Edit: Track should be available again (changed to ol' trusty zshare).

Reinhard Voigt - Charge Your Dreams [Kompakt, 2007]
Oompf! Voigt steps correct with some new techno. Charge your dreams is a clearcut My Kind Of Track. Wreck yourself.

Can You Relate ?

What happened to the Techno what happened to the music, what happened to the Techno what happened to the Underground, what happened to the fun.Wise words from Samuel L Session in his track "Can You Relate" He goes on about all the minimal producers etc & all the genres i have to agree alot of "Minimal" just dont cut it anymore, it needs something more than 13 mins of a few bleeps & tweeks here and there,Its just becoming another formula it needs change thankfully a few producers are realising this & changing it for the better.
Samuel L Session - "Can You Relate" - [Klap klap]

We can make it all come true

I've been catching up on Merck's last releases, what a label. So much quality but too short life span! 40 Winks - Sound Puzzle and Deceptikon - Greater Cascadia has been rotating heavily here at home and in my ipod the last couple of days.
40 Winks is pure mellow instrumental, crunchy, soothing hip-hop - quality beats. Deceptikon (a favorite since his Lost Subject 12") is also hiphopish but more to the electronic(a) side of things, ya'know think Machine drum, a bit of Blamstrain etc.

Deceptikon - Greater Cascadia Unified [Merck, 2007]
40 Winks - Egyptian Love Poems [Merck, 2007]

Into The Sublime

This is possibly one of the most beautiful tracks you will ever here.No wonder why Michael Mayer is regarded as one of the top ten producers in the world, aswell as co -owning one of the most talented labels out there [Kompakt] & all that comes with it. Here he goes to work on a cover version of "Maps" by the (yeah yeah yeahs),Firstly reworked by Ada, then remixed by Michael Mayer & Tobias Thomas on [Areal]

Ada -"Maps" -(Mayer & Thomas Remix) - [Areal]

***Edit*** It looks like risky bizniz & me shop at the same place for music ;) they beat me to the post by a few hours i just realised.
