Fifteen minutes of insane scratching techniques over a frantic electro beat grinding away while the cuts are layered ontop. Dope and menacing from back in the days of 1999, from the record 'Pharaohs of funk'. Mad scratch session, aah yeah f-f-freshh.
Lindstrom - I Feel Space (Freeform Reform Parts 1&2) [Playhouse, 2006] (buy)
A side of the I feel space remix 12", the B side is also great (even better in some ways). The space continues to haunt us, bitter sweetly so.
Breakestra - Stand up! [Ubiquity, 2005] (buy)
Funk is rare around here, but I love these guys. From their 2005 album 'Hit the floor'. Will be released as a single in april (the 11th?).
Funk D'Void & Phil Kieran - White lice [Soma, 2006] (buy)
Glasgow producer Funk D'void of Soma fame will bless GBG this upcoming friday by playing at The Eye. No doubt, it will be mind blowing. This is how his latest release together with Phil Kieran sounds. The b-side contains a remix from Lee van Dowski which is slightly heavier.

Praveen's Backed by spirits CD - was a little disappointed, too ambient and not very exciting at all, still a couple of nice tracks (I really digged his free demo/sample songs on his homepage). Better was Quench's Punctuated sampler on merck, very nice.

Alex Smoke - Snider [Soma, 2006] (buy)
Glasgow producer Alex Smoke's newest LP, 'Paradolia' contains many interesting tracks. This is one of them.
Vice is sometimes funny and I quote (from Vol2, Nr 6, "The food issue", page 22):
Apples should be illegal. What a terrible food. They never satisfy your hunger and they make way too much noise. Have you ever heard someone bite into an apple? It's disgusting. It sounds like a tree is falling inside someone's skull. Also, people look smug when they eat an apple. Like, "Ah, you know. Just eatin' an apple, doin' normal stuff. Readin' the paper." Gross. Stop eating apples. It is a pointless food.He then goes on about some other foods that should be illegalised, like mangoes, pears, melons, walnuts, sangria, cookies dipped in milk, and lobster. I think lobsters are cool tho (\/)_oO_(\/) *clik clak*.

Thick, pounding warm and handsome techno on Kompakt's off shoot K2 sub-label. Worthwhile your time, for sure.

Superior quality rough tech-house on these two's newest four track EP, "Monster Eats The Pilot" which is one of those rare releases where every single track is awesome. So I had a bit of trouble choosing what song to post, I hope this selection makes you go buy the record.
Oh dear, today's tracks are high quality shit. Best post in a while I reckon, if I may say so myself (and I certainly may!). I hope you enjoy, and remember: have fun, and buy the releases you like.

From the freshly released Floating 12" comes this wonderful easy-listening, light house piece. Crystal clear, sweet - 10 minutes of bliss for the ears.

A slice of hot electro house, gonna make you wish it was weekend already (even more).
Nathan Fake - You Are Here [Border community, 2006] (buy)
Nathan Fake is out with his album "Drowning in a sea of love" on Border community. It is all beautiful ranging in and around the ambient/electro/IDM genres (if you must label it...). I did not see this coming to be honest. Kudos to this producer who continues to amaze. Ulrich Schnauss and M83 influenced perhaps..?

Sixtoo - A to Zero [Vertical form, 2003]
I remember instantly loving sixtoo's production here but the vocals took another few listens before I appreciated. Hiphop of the non standard variety.
Duplex - Autosug [Clone, 2006] (buy)
Could first be heard on the 'Late night driving' LP, which was released in november 2005. It has now gotten the remix treatment by some well known fellas on the Autosug EP (released this march), which I suggest you go pick up from your dealer. Techno just the way we like it.

Remix of this fella's old (1982!) song. Funky and groovy. There's a Lindstrom and Prince Thomas remix of the same track on the release, but I think Bangkok impact takes the prize here.
The Gasman - Freezer [Planet mu, 2006] (buy)
Only listened to this album, "This one's for you" like 2 times, so this is pretty much just a random track that I liked. IDM I suppose (what the hell should one call it anyway? IDM is such a fag term..)

Free. Check those damn drums, jesus. Heard it again after so many years this weekend, it owns.

Title track of his new EP. Brilliant, this guy isn't following the standard electro template that's for sure (if there even is such a thing, heh).

This fella does, however he excels at it so no problem. Can see this working very well on the dancefloor. Again, this is the title track of the dudes newest outing. "Snabb electro är bra electro".
Appologizes for these rather crappy recordings, sound quality wise. My equipment is sub par.

Yes, that's right. This is the B-side of the tape-only warp mixtape from 1995, starts with some jump up, get down, funky electro boogie then moves into some more experimental territory. The a-side is of course mighty too, but not as party happy. I mean this is more than a decade old now, but it really doesn't sound cheesy. 30 minutes, can you relate?

Okay, continuing in the old school warp ways. Here is the intro to Blech II, just to tease you a bit. It is absolutely massive.
Mixes, more mixes - gotta catch 'em all. Check, demovibes (part1, part2, part3, part4 each part is about 1h20min long with various genres of mostly electronic music), Exzakt's "Global Electronics vol 2" (track listing) pure pounding electro gems mixed superbly (1h20min). Alkama playing on TPOLM's laser sunday radio 23rd oct, 2005 - techno (1 hour), more tpolm LSR recordings here - don't sleep on these and do not miss the upcoming show this sunday. Up rough (hey booger!) soundsystem house/electro live gig, june 2005, excellent ~1hour.

It's catchy. "Let the hummers hum, and the clappers clap, and the singers they just sing 'yeah, yeah, yeaaahh'!". From the album "Downtown science".
Omega one - Memento [Nature sounds, 2005] (buy)
Check out that beautiful piano and the impressive percussion work. From the album "The Lo fi chronicles", sort of jazzy hiphop. Only one track feature vocals.
Time to take a break from all the house and techno for a wee bit and have a peep at some more headphone, home listening electronics.
Bibio - Quantock [Mush, 2006] (buy)
Stephen Wilkinson alias Bibio makes cozy and lush guitar based quirky, beatless electronic music. Think something like BoC's the campfire headphase - only he did it before them (atleast release-wise). He has a new album out called "Hand cranked" on Mush where this track is from. It all feels like some old movie with a sun bleached picture. Would be cool to make a remix of this whole album with some mad beats ontop etc because as is, it almost gets a little too repetitive for its own good. ("Woodington" is another superb track on this release btw)
Tstewart - Camp lejune [Merck, 2006] (buy)
The man also known as Machine drum and Syndrone. "Living Exponentially" is his new album on merck, and it is good. It doesn't sound much machine drummy at all, which is refreshing. Travis is showing some serious producing proficiency. This and the song called "Jess" I like the most so far.

Buying course litterature is a major turn off for me with those insane prices. Don't have much choice though since the authors love to introduce 'new' editions every year where they restructure the whole book and add, remove random parts. Got my hands full with school, a webpage gig and I gotta get a new passport for my trip to the US in april, and lots of other stuff on my mind.

Phil Collins - Sussudio

Yesterday I, for some unambigious reason, threw my phone into the bushes and snow. I had to go pick it up today (atleast I remembered roughly where it was) - its behaviour is slightly modified. I also did some dialing under the influence which is not cool (can't you see I'm having a visit of ole Ågren?). Fuck, and all this ontop of me having my last basic math exam on friday (important). I am so fried. Luckily I have Markus Guentner to comfort me, his shit is the bomb as they say. As soon as my local pizza place opens up imma order something to eat, I'm starving. [blogger rant[tm] over] Anyway, Andreas Tilliander's set was ok (even though I poured like a full pint of beer on myself), I have seen him play once before and he didn't let me down this time either - quality. Let's continue on to the music (and the real reason you're here) shall we..

Honestly I haven't had a lot of time to listen properly to this and I'm mostly posting it to please you. How unselfish isn't that?! I'm listening now (again) to it and it is solid techno. 2005 on Kickboxer and the B-side is just as fantastic.

Yeah, more from mr Guentner, his album "Lovely Society" is just that, lovely. I debated in my scizo brain a while if I should post this or "Option pt. II (Ziggy Kinder remix)"... no biggie, both rocks. I urge you to buy this.
Axel Bartsch - Redlight [Kompakt] (buy)
Heavy and fresh off the Kompakt presses, released the 6th of March, 2006. I love this kind of shit. It's the A-side on the 'Light in the dark' 12", the B side is more thump-dahump but not quite as good I reckon.

Been on a nostalgia trip, pumping classics through the speakers; Drexciya - Neptune's lair, Gescom - Keynell, Autechre - Anvil vapre, Aux88, Dyanmix II etc. And to top that off: yesterday Legowelt and Dj Overdose was playing live on radio xltronic.com, the set can be downloaded here - it was smashing, with a 90s miami bass, old school electro funk theme.

Sbles3plex aka Dark Vektor - "Stop TV control" EP, 2002 on Djax-Up-Beats. Earliest electro house? This is the title track, and I can absolutely see myself dancing to this today in some random 'hip' place. Killer! His 2003 EP, "Pornobotic" on the same label is also worth checking.
Novamen - Lekkage
Released in 2000 (I think) on Bunker! Quality electro as you have come to expect from that place, the EP is called "The Hauge City".
Yesterday I placed two small orders, one on boomkat and one on juno. Was disappointed in seeing that mostly all the merck records (not cds) were out of stock. Can't quite make up my mind about todays post, resulting in three very different tracks.

Edit: Just saw that the wonderful ppl over at 24:hours has posted two tracks off Tomas Andersson's 'Copy Cat' 12" [bpitch, 2006] - so go get em if you missed it when I posted it a while ago. :-)
